  2. I like both Star Wars and Star Trek, although I'm a STar Trek-fan. The number one difference between the two is that Star Wars is space fantasy, while star Trek is science fiction. Technology in Star Wars is handled in a very mundane way, with a few words, it has no focus, unlike in Star Trek. As Arthur C. Clarke said once "...science fiction is something that could happen - but usually you wouldn't want it to. Fantasy is something that couldn't happen - though often you only wish that it could." My biggest problem with Star Wars - other than the fact that Disney destroyed the franchise - is that until the Disney movies, only prequels were made, no proper material about the actual present of the SW universe.

    Sci fi books

If you like hard sci-fi, read some books from Stephen Baxters Xeelee Sequence guys! Flux is not that good in my opinion, but Raft, Vacuum Diagrams, and Timelike Infinity is awesome!

In any film, TV series, publication, etc. Here's an example: How to Captain a Starship I just remembered: A long time ago, I used my favourite scene/moments as my Avatar on this site (in animated GIF form). e.g. Sorry for the video, but i cant find my old GIFs...

    Star Trek Word Game

Optical Data Network Frequently referred to as "ODN" on DS9, but also referred to in Star Trek: Voyager season 1 ("The Cloud") when Chakotay tells Ensign Kim the nebula had knocked out their "Optical Data Network". (Sorry, couldn't think of something starting with "2" πŸ˜› ) Side note: list on page 1 has finally been updated!

    New Series Announced

Another Update: Kurtman has confirmed that the new series will remain in the current (Roddenberry) cannon, not the new Kelvin timeline. Read the article below for all of the details, but here it is in a nutshell: [POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT] - This may not even be the correct story... Romulus is destroyed by a supernova, several years after the Nemesis movie. Spok's attempts at stopping the incident fail. Nero goes crazy trying to track down Spok. Picard is (or may be) the Ambassador to Romulus at the time. Picards life and the entire balance of the galaxy, is altered in a massive way... Read the Hollywood Reporter And also checkout the Star Trek: Countdown comic series I'm getting very excited about this... I'm off to watch ST:TNG - Unification parts 1 & 2 And then Nemesis again πŸ™‚

    Doctor Who

Dear God! I just found this, sorry to anyone who thinks this is old news! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxB1gB6K-2A Reminds me of the time I learned Tate will be the new companion. To be honest, I did not like the idea at all, but I was wrong, she was brilliant playing Donna, she is one of my favourite New Doctor Who companion. BTW guy I hope you know that Twitch is streaming the classic Doctor Who episodes from time to time, like today (08/01/2019) for example! Watch and co-stream them on !

    The Orville

Will need to give this a re-watch. Think it's available on NowTV in the UK. I caught the first episode but didn't quite catch on, but trailer for season 2 looks cool. Seems more serious than what I saw.

    Happy New Year!

2018 was not a very good year. Stephen Hawking, Stan Lee, and Burt Reynolds died (amongst other people). 2018 was a fucking dogshit year in terms of AAA-gaming. Fartshite came and became the #1 mainstream game, played by children mostly. After Blizzard legitimized loot boxes through Overwatch last year, AAA-pulishers introduced them in their games. The Battlefield V PC-bullshit arrived, than the Bethesda Fallout 76 scandal, than the Atlas one. Thankfully there were good games like God Of War, Spider Man, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Red dead Redemption 2. I honestly hope 2019 will be better, now that governments started to look into the whole 'get children addicted to gambling' thing, even the UK government started to look into it! CP2077 is coming from CD Projekt RED, although Cyberpunk probably won't be done this year (2019), and Outer Worlds from the creators of Fallout and Fallout 2, so we probably going to have a proper Fallout game again, instead of that dogshit with the Creation Engine, with physics tied to the framerate. Happy New Year everyone!
  17. The Expanse is a sci-fi series, looks like Battlestar Galactica Lite. A large part of the first season plays on a space station, feels very "close-quarters", very cyberpunk, than the story starts to unfold. In my opinion the writing is a bit erratic, some twists and turns feel very clichΓ©, very forced, very self-serving, some of the characters are not very well written, Amos is my favourite character. Its interesting, I am still watching it, so I guess its not all bad. I recommend everyone who haven't heard of it yet to check it out!

    Stargate Origins

Oh my god! Prequel, AND young adult series, the two things giving me rashes! Watching the trailer I was waiting for (young) Indiana Jones to show up! I saw the original Stargate movie in the cinema back than, it reminds me of that, and that's nice, than its starting to remind me of "The Mummy" movies...
  19. 2018 has been a fairly turbulent year around the world, but I hope we can all focus on the good things as we look forward to 2019. For me, by far my biggest and proudest moment of 2018 was becoming a dad. 2019 has some exciting prospects and events coming up (And of course there's a lot of new Sci-Fi to look forward to!)

    Stargate Origins

Well, just to show how out of date we seem to be, I was wrong. It was actually released earlier in 2018. Hidden away on the Stargate Command subscription service. [updated above]

    The Orville

The 'The Orville' is Seth McFerrin's sci-fi series in the spirit of classic Star Trek, like TOS and TNG. Sometimes its comical, sometimes its bold in terms of its themes. The series is already through one season consisting of twelve episodes, successful enough to get a second season, the first episode of which is airing on the 31st of December! (Second season trailer, might contain mild spoilers!) What's your view on swearing?

Wow TFMF! What are your views 10+years later? In my part of the world, swearing is predominantly colloquial language I'll remind you that I'm Australian and... "I f'ing love you [email protected]#!&". But, a lot of it has to do with tone. Intent. Tone, and intent, are hard to interpret in text form. ... Do we need to test the new filter TFMF? I'm happy to oblige πŸ™‚
